The winners at the 35th Galway Film Fleadh have been announced, with the comedy adventure Apocalypse Clown winning Best Irish Film, the drama Lie of the Land named Best Irish First Feature and The Graceless Age - The Ballad of John Murry honoured with Best Irish Documentary.

Agnes O'Casey, the great-granddaughter of playwright Seán O'Casey, was honoured with the Bingham Ray New Talent Award for her performances in the psychological thriller Lies We Tell and the feel good comedy-drama The Miracle Club.
Numerous short films - both animated and live-action- were again among the honourees, with this year's festival taking place against the backdrop of the actors' strike in the US.

The Fleadh is an Oscars-qualifying festival for Irish short films, meaning the winners of Best Animation (Worry World), the Tiernan McBride Award for Best Short Drama (Two for the Road) and Best Short Documentary (Being Put Back Together) will look to build on their success in Galway as they bid to be among the Academy Awards nominees next year.
Organisers hailed the festival as a "truly special week", thanking everyone who had made it possible.
