Sam was born in Nigeria, grew up in Ireland and is currently based in London. He mainly creates music in the rap/trap genre while occasionally touching dancehall/afrobeat.
He started making music in 2017 when featuring on How can I Leave by Natural B and the following year released his track, On Me.
His song After Hours in Minneapolis was about the BLM movement and sparked an online debate about the issue.
Tell us three things about yourself?
I come from a musically talented family, I play the drums and my other siblings also are musically gifted. I love cinematography and I understand how getting the right shot/image can capture the atmosphere in that moment. They say a picture equals a thousand words. Highly motivated, putting myself through my MSC while also releasing music to fans, wasn't easy, but do able and I would like for others to know that anything is achievable once they put their minds to it.
How would I describe my music?
I would describe my music as trap music, but also rap/sing to a lot of afro beat tracks. Recently I’ve found myself more drawn to pop rap with previous releases of Louis V (prod by Sighost), Flavours Ft Tebirex and Awkward Z and my most recent release No Motion. One thing I can say is regarding the motivational aspects of my music and how your starting point in life can always be changed and improved with hard work. Overall, my music is great for vibing out to whether you want mellow track for late night drives like my last release Cinderella or a dance rhythm to move your feet too like Crazy in Love Featuring Natural B.
Who Are Your Musical Aspirations?
Natural B, I’ve seen a lot of Irish musicians come and go over the years. For reasons unknown. The quality of music he releases each time over the number of years is something I can only aspire to recreate. Another artist I look up to is Boy in Space. His music is capable of setting the atmospheric tone where it is hype music, or calm music, singing regarding childhood memories and teenage heartbreak, similar topics that I also try touch on in my music. On a global scale, Drake. He’s performed for over a decade while also bringing fresh sounds and reinventing himself in a relatable way to the fans. Need I say more?
What was your first gig you ever went to?
The first gig I ever went to was The Saw Doctors, believe it or not. Makes sense considering the town I grew up in County Meath, Nobber. The concert was amazing, and I have to say their instrumental skills were incredible.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Natural B, you have to support your own right? My favourite track off the album was I’m Feeling You. I’ve played it over and over again and to tell you the truth, it would probably still be a hit if it was played in clubs again!.
What’s Your Favourite Song right now?
Scrub - Sleepy Hollow.
Favourite Lyric of all time?
That’s a hard one, I would say it’s definitely from a Drake track but I’m too indecisive to pick.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Scrub by Sleepy Hallow. Makes sense considering it’s my favourite song right now
