Dubliner Catherine Agbaje has been eliminated from Love Island.

On Wednesday night, she was 'dumped' from the reality dating show via a public vote, alongside fellow contestant Elom Ahlijah-Wilson, with whom she was coupled up.

Agbaje was a popular contestant who explored several love interests during her time in the villa, including André and Zach, before coupling up with former Shelbourne FC footballer, Scott van-der-Sluis, who is from Wales.

However, Agbaje decided to recouple with Ahlijah-Wilson during the Casa Amor period of the series, leaving van-der-Sluis single and upset, as he had chosen to remain loyal to her.

On Sunday night's show, footage of Catherine kissing Elom was shown during Movie Night. The clip caused fallout in the villa, with accusations from viewers that several of the female contestants, including Catherine, had "bullied" van-der-Sluis. The UK broadcasting regulator Ofcom received nearly 1,000 complaints about the episode.

Wednesday night's elimination was the result of the public voting on which couple they felt were the least compatible.

Speaking after her elimination, Agbaje said she was "massively shocked" to go home: "Massively... It wasn't something I saw coming at all. When I heard our names I was shocked because I know what me and Elom have is genuine and we are so compatible."

She continued, "I'm sad to be leaving everyone, I've genuinely made friends for life in the villa who I’m going to miss so much."

"But I’m happy to be leaving with Elom. Not everyone gets the chance to find someone that they have a connection with, so I can’t wait to continue what we have on the outside."

22-year-old Agbaje is a real estate agent from Dublin, who lives and works in London.

She holds an undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology and a master's in real estate, and was one of the ten original cast members on this season of Love Island.
