Actress and producer Reese Witherspoon has opened up about her recent divorce from talent agent Jim Toth, saying how different the experience is in comparison to her first divorce from actor Ryan Phillippe.

Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, The Morning Show and Big Little Lies star said she feels much more in control of the situation this time around.

She and Toth announced their separation in March after 11 years of marriage.

Referring to the intense media and paparazzi interest she experienced when separating from Phillippe in 2006, she said, "When I was divorced before, the tabloid media got to tell people how I was feeling or how I was processing, and it felt very out of control.

"To be able to talk to people directly about what's going on in my life and just share it in the way that I share great professional experiences or personal experiences, it feels much more authentic to be able to say things in my own voice and not let somebody else control what’s happening."

She said, "Then, of course, there’s speculation, but I can’t control that. All I can do is be my most honest, forthright self and be vulnerable.

"It’s a vulnerable time for me."

She also said that she doesn't feel alone in the experience: "I think about how many other people are going through this experience. I don't feel isolated at all. I feel very connected."

Witherspoon is currently starring in and co-producing a comedy movie for Amazon.

Titled You’re Cordially Invited, she and co-star Will Ferrell play feuding wedding planners.
