Further details of the cause of death of Robert De Niro's grandson A Star Is Born actor Leandro De Niro Rodriguez have been released by his mother.
Sharing a post on Leandro‘s death on Instagram, his mother Drena De Niro Rodriguez shared in the comments how her son died.
"Someone sold him fentanyl-laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him," Drena wrote.
"So for all these people still ******* around selling and buying this ****, my son is gone forever."
Robert De Niro had said he is "deeply distressed" following the death of his grandson at the age of 19.
The veteran Hollywood actor, 79, said he and his family were "greatly appreciative" of condolences and asked for privacy.
The death of Leandro De Niro Rodriguez was announced on Monday by his mother.
"I'm deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo," Drena said.
"We're greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo."

Leandro had acting credits to his name, with roles in three projects: 2005’s The Collection, and 2018’s Cabaret Maxime and A Star Is Born.
