This documentary follows students and teachers of the Royal Irish Academy of Music during a pivotal 12 months in its 175-year history.

At the start of the new academic year, director Deborah Kelleher deals with significant delays to a building project that has already experienced significant overruns due to the pandemic and the rising costs of building materials.

Deborah is striving to break down the 'elitist' barriers of classical music to make it accessible for everyone. However, this is still a world that strives for perfection and the demands on students are significant.

In the opening episode, vocal student, Rachael Connaghan is about to have major jaw surgery to fix a misalignment that is impacting her singing - but first, she must audition for a lead role in the opera.

17-year-old, pianist, Seán Shannon is leaving home in Ennis, county Clare for the first time to take a place in RIAM’s third level programme.

Having taught himself to play on a toy piano as a child by watching Youtube videos, he's nervous about stepping into such a professional environment. Auditions also take place for third level students to determine their place in RIAM’s Philharmonia Orchestra.

This takes the dancer on an extraordinary journey to the country's remote 18th-century trading posts.

The trek reveals that he comes from a long line of skilled and courageous female ancestors who survived - and thrived - against the odds.

New or Returning Shows

And Just Like That, 9.00pm, Sky Comedy

Another season of the Sex and the City reboot. It’s hard to get excited, to be honest, even though I was a big fan of the original series (well, the first 3-4 seasons, when it had a bit of an edge).

Anyway, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) continue to navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.

Hopefully it’s better than the first one, which - most disappointingly - reduced the whip-smart Miranda to a fawning, middle-aged schoolgirl, inexplicably smitten by the tediously self-righteous Che.

We’ve been promised a fleeting glimpse of Kim Cattrall’s Samantha, and there’s the return of John Corbett’s nice-but-control-freaky Aidan. Let’s see what that brings.
