RTÉ 2fm presenters and podcasters The 2 Johnnies have released a special podcast episode that explores the topic of sextortion.
Sextortion is a form of cyber extortion which involves a threat or blackmail of having intimate information, images or clips shared without consent.
This episode of The 2 Johnnies' self-titled podcast features victims sharing their own stories of being extorted online, including a man from Co Laois who claims he was duped and blackmailed for €10,000 by someone he met on social media.
With recent Garda awareness campaigns surrounding such issues, the duo will also speak to Detective Superintendent Ian Lackey from the Garda National Protective Services Bureau to find out more about the dangers and legalities involved.
The special comes on the back of a hugely popular episode of the duo's podcast last year, where Johnny B spoke about his experience of being "catfished" online.
Johnny Smacks says of this new episode, "We really wanted to investigate this further to see how widespread this is, how it impacts on people and what you should do if you ever find yourself in a situation where someone has gotten a compromising image of you and they are threatening to make it public."
The podcast, which began in 2018, is hugely popular and is in the top 1% of most-listened to podcasts globally on Spotify.
You can catch Drive It with The 2 Johnnies Monday to Friday on RTÉ 2fm from 3pm.
