Speaking about his new track, Gibbons says "All I Need is a reflection on the struggle between holding on and letting go. It's about how ultimately, it’s up to us to take responsibility for our own happiness, even when things seem to be outside our control.
"The entire process was cathartic for me and working with Treetalk was an absolute privilege. He’s a unique talent and brings a depth and tone to the song that brought me to a place of wonder and intrigue the moment I first heard him sing it, and still does!"
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
Freddie Mercury is my musical idol. To me he was the consummate performer, a giant ball of on-stage energy, abandon and sheer showmanship with a voice to match. What a star! I’ve a huge interest in the law and have studied it extensively for years. It fascinates me how the law is used by a parasitic section of the professional 'elite’ to coerce the general populace into doing things that go entirely against our natural instincts, when in fact it can be used to protect us from a wide range of social ills and financial malignancies. I don’t watch TV.
How would you describe your music?
I would describe my music as fun, energetic and powerful. ‘Fun’ because I feel having fun is at the very essence of our existence on this plane. Having fun allows us to use or imaginations, create, and tap into higher levels of consciousness. ‘Energetic’ because energy is the binding force of the universe, the building block upon which our very existence lies, and like music, connects us all. Finally, ‘powerful’ because only when we realise the depth of our own power and begin to utilise it in a positive way can we truly reach our potential.
Who are your musical inspirations?
I grew up listening to the music my parents exposed me to and accordingly have retained a huge love for acts such as Dire Straits, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, and Elton John among many others. As I began to listen to music a bit more independently I started gravitating towards a lot of hip-hop and then had my eureka moment when I first heard Snap’s Rhythm Is A Dancer. This single song opened me up to dance music for the first time and I began to devour everything from Prodigy and Leftfield albums to DJ sets from Carl Cox and Tony de Vit along with everything in between. More recently and in the studio I’ve been hugely influenced by producers such as Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Eric Prydz and even Max Martin for a wide variety of reasons.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
