"It feels so good to be releasing music on my own," Sorcha says. "There’s a huge sense of achievement in that. It's been a journey to get here, and I think that's reflected in the songs.

"This EP is a snapshot of my life at a certain time. Touching on feelings of hope and despair through fear and strength. It was a labour of love and I’m very proud of it."

Sorcha has already found success with Kerry band Walking On Cars, whose 2016 debut album Everything This Way went to number 1 in Ireland while second album Colours hit number 2.

The band decided to call it a day in early 2020 and Sorcha decided to take some time to mould her own artistic vision. "Making music is a fundamental part of my being so I naturally turned to that to help me process everything," she says.

"Combining the organic sound of the piano and my voice with electronic elements like vintage synths and Drum machines is what really excites me," Sorcha says.

"These songs are my first chance to tell my own story."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I live in Dingle, in beautiful West Kerry. I'm pregnant. My happy place is on a beach or up a hill with no one else around.

How would you describe your music?

My music is kind of moody and intense. A bit like me! Piano is definitely the backbone of most of my songs layered with synths, big drumbeats, and breathy vocals. I love combining organic sounds with more electronic elements.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Maribou State, I listened to Kingdoms in Colour so much when I was making the EP. I love them! I have to mention First Aid Kit because their music melts my heart, and they are such great songwriters. Nils Frahm made me fall in love with the combination of piano and arpeggiated synths and really inspired me to experiment.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

My sister brought me to Britney Spears in the Point when I was 15. Travelling up from West Kerry for the gig, it was a big deal to me at the time!

What was the first record you ever bought?

The Titanic soundtrack. I was so obsessed my dad gave me a voucher for the Dingle Record Shop so I could get the tape when it came out. I listened to it over and over.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Lana Del Rey - Paris, Texas. I listen to it every day, no joke. It's so beautiful. I want to learn the piano so I can play along.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"Why do I keep dreaming of you? Is it all because of my rebel heart?" - Rebel Heart, First Aid Kit.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Arcade Fire, Sprawl II. Ever since seeing Regine perform it at Electric Picnic in 2011 that song has stayed with me. The synths, the build-up, I never get sick of it.
