Former RTÉ presenter, writer and filmmaker, Aidan O'Hara, has died after a long illness. He was 84 years old.
Mr O'Hara joined RTÉ in 1969 as a continuity announcer and later went on to present Fáilte Isteach on Radio One in the 1980s.
He also presented and appeared on numerous TV shows during his career with RTÉ.
His award-winning 1981 Radharc documentary, The Forgotten Irish, was the first documentation of the descendants of Irish emigrants in Newfoundland, Canada.
He later worked as a news announcer for 98FM in Dublin and published numerous books and articles about the Irish diaspora, culture and history.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his children and grandchildren.
