Kieran Culkin says shooting scenes with Brian Cox for HBO hit drama Succession sometimes made him feel like he was seven years old.

The US actor said Cox could be a "scary guy" while in character as the formidable Logan Roy.

Culkin played Roman Roy, one of the scheming Roy siblings, alongside Jeremy Strong and Sarah Snook in the award-winning series.

Succession's fourth and final series came to an end last month.

Speaking to Claire Danes as part of Variety’s Actors on Actors video series, Culkin recalled filming with Cox, saying, "Whenever I have to shoot with Brian, it’s like, 'Dad, I feel like I’m seven.’ He can be a scary guy.

"Not to me — I can approach him as an adult. But for whatever reason, in character, I feel like I’m seven with him."

Culkin also addressed the fact that, while filming season four of the show, the cast did not know if there would be a further season of the hit series.

"Jesse Armstrong, our showrunner-writer, didn't know. He told me before the season started that he thinks this is the end, but he doesn't know," he said.

"I’d actually stopped asking what was coming later. And that was the thing: I liked it. I liked not knowing."

He continued: "Sarah Snook, the entire time, until the very end was like, 'There’s going to be a fifth season.’

"It was after the table read for the final episode, he [Armstrong] told us [that the series was over].

"He felt like the story was complete, and creatively that was it. He’s like, 'I feel like it’s complete.'"
