The British Soap Awards, 8.00pm, UTV

Jane McDonald presents the annual ceremony from the Lowry Theatre in Salford, which celebrates and honours the incredible achievements in Britain’s beloved soaps.

Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks will once again go head-to-head to find out who will be going home with this year's trophies.

The categories include Best Dramatic Performance, Best Newcomer and the evening's biggest accolade, Best British Soap.

Inspector Bartley brings in a stray pug that has an infection in both eyes and the dog rehabilitation centre staff care for a seven-year-old collie suffering from a bad case of mange.

In the fostering department, volunteer Paddy has a big task on his hands when he is given a pregnant cat to have her kittens in his home.

The Best of Les Dawson, 8.00pm, BBC Four

A night of shows dedicated to the late great English comedian Les Dawson begins with this tribute featuring clips of some of his best sketches and stand-up routines. First shown in May 1997.

That’s followed at 8.30pm by Les Dawson: Talking Comedy. Angela Thorne narrates a look back at clips of the comedian and writer's appearances on some of the BBC's best-loved talk shows.

Then at 9pm there’s The Many Faces of Les Dawson. The programme explores his beginnings in northern clubs and appearance on talent show Opportunity Knocks and charts his rise to stardom.

Contributors include John Cleese, Robert Webb and Russell Kane. Narrated by Sally Phillips.

The Greatest Auction, 8.00pm, Channel 4

This week AJ Odudu hosts buyers bid for Oasis lyrics hand-written by frontman Noel Gallagher (below) for his brother Liam.

There’s also a pair of Nike trainers with a £4,000 reserve, a sculpture by British artist Anish Kapoor and some vintage Louis Vuitton luggage with an interesting history.

New or Returning Shows

Steeltown Murders: Hunting a Serial Killer, 9.00pm, BBC One

This companion documentary to the BBC drama Steeltown Murders (see trailer below) tells the inside story of the police investigation into the 1973 murders of three teenage girls near the steel town of Port Talbot.

With revealing interviews from detectives at the heart of the re-investigation and emotional first-time interviews from friends and family of the girls, the programme reveals how, after nearly 30 years, Wales's first serial killer was finally unmasked.

Somebody Somewhere, 9.00pm, Sky Comedy

Season two of the show starring and executive produced by comedian and singer Bridget Everett, which follows Sam (played by Everett), a true Kansan on the surface, but, beneath it all, struggling to fit the hometown mould.

Grappling with loss and acceptance, singing is Sam's saving grace and leads her on a journey to discover herself and a community of outsiders who don't fit in but don't give up, showing that finding your people, and finding your voice, is possible.

While he rents out his house, Joel and Sam revel in the highs of their temporary living situation and the lows of cleaning up after strangers; as a newly single Tricia prepares for an empty nest, Sam is overcome with unexpected emotion.

Then, at poker night, Fred throws Sam, Joel and Tiffani a curveball, then Sam attends a former voice teacher's concert in hopes of becoming her student again with unforeseen consequences.

Greatest Mysteries with Laurence Fishburne, 9.00pm, Sky History

The hit series returns for a fourth season with Emmy Award winner Laurence Fishburne once again investigating some more of the greatest mysteries of all time.

This brand -new season features an enthralling array of cases which take a deep dive and question mysteries and legends including: The Loch Ness Monster, 50-year-old mysterious identity of the Zodiac Killer, Blackbeard’s missing treasure.

There’s also new details new evidence in the infamous story of plane hijacker D.B Copper and could new clues tell us the location of the Ark of the Covenant?

Top Gear, 8.00pm, RTÉ2

Season 33 comes to RTÉ2 as Freddie Flintoff, Chris Harris and Paddy McGuinness head to Thailand on a road-trip in old pick-ups.

Back in Britain, Chris tests out the astonishing Rimac Nevera, an electric two-seater that might just be the fastest car on the planet.

Forensics: The Real CSI, 9.00pm, BBC Two

A 12-year-old girl comes forward to say she has been groomed online and raped several times, so West Midlands Police quickly identify and arrest the suspect.

However, as it is several weeks since the alleged attacks, there is limited physical evidence, so the officers have to rely on digital forensics, leaning heavily on two smartphones seized from the suspect.
