Melanie wants answers from Joan in Sunday's Fair City on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.
As Joan struggles to come to terms with her diagnosis of kidney disease, Melanie makes a discovery.
"They gave me some of your hospital documents," says Melanie.
"What?" Joan replies. "They can't do that."
"They can if I'm your next of kin," says Melanie.
"Do you mind telling me why those forms say I'm your life partner?"
