Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy has spoken about feeling "physically ill" while working on a film with particularly difficult colleague.
In an interview with The Guardian, McCarthy, 52, said, "I did work for someone once who ran such a volatile, hostile set that it made me physically ill. My eyes were swelling up, I was absorbing all of this nuttiness."
She said that people on set would be "weeping, visibly so upset by this one person."
She continued, "And I think that's why the manipulation worked - because to get to me, this person would fire people I loved, which kept me quiet. It was very effective."
She claims that she finally stood up to the unidentified individual: "Then one day, I was like, 'It stops today!’ I just kept saying to them, it stops, it stops. And I know now I’ll never keep quiet again."

McCarthy is best-known from break-out role 2011 smash-hit comedy Bridesmaids, as well as co-starring alongside Sandra Bullock in The Heat and her long-running stint as chef Sookie in Gilmore Girls.

The actress is starring as evil sea witch Ursula in the live action remake of The Little Mermaid, due out Friday 26 May.
