It is reported that Bad Sisters' Daryl McCormack is to star opposite Normal People's Daisy Edgar-Jones and Top Gun: Maverick's Glen Powell in Twisters - the sequel to the 1996 box office hit Twister.

US entertainment trade publication Variety reports that Co Tipperary actor McCormack also joins the likes of Maura Tierney (The Affair), Sasha Lane (Conversations with Friends), Anthony Ramos (Hamilton) and Brandon Perea (Nope) in the cast.

"Described as a 'new chapter' of the 1996 movie, plot details for Twisters remain under wraps," says Variety. "The original Twister followed a team of storm-chasers as they hunt down the most powerful tornado in decades."

The sequel, from Miniari director Lee Isaac Chung and The Revenant screenwriter Mark L Smith, is due in cinemas in July 2024.

Peaky Blinders star McCormack made his big-screen breakthrough last year opposite Emma Thompson in Good Luck to You, Leo Grande. The Nenagh man was IFTA and BAFTA-nominated for his performance in the comedy-drama.
