Sweden has won the Eurovision Song Contest for a record-equalling seventh time as the country's 2012 winner, Loreen, took home the glass microphone trophy once again - this time with the song Tattoo.

The win means that Sweden now ties with Ireland for the most Eurovision victories.

Loreen also made history at Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena as the first woman, and only the second artist, to win the contest twice.
Her win means that she equals the record held by Johnny Logan, who triumphed at the contest in both 1980 and 1987 as a performer. Logan was also the composer and lyricist of Linda Martin's winning song Why Me? at the Eurovision in 1992.
The runaway leader in the jury results, Sweden's Loreen had 340 points when all 37 juries were tallied. Israel was second on 177, with Italy third on 176.

However, there was a nail-biting finish when the public votes were added on stage in Liverpool, and Finland took the lead with 526 points.
With the last result of the night, co-host Graham Norton revealed that Sweden had received 243 points in the public vote - putting Loreen and Tattoo top with 583 points.

As she was congratulated by Norton, Loreen said: "This is overwhelming. I'm so happy, and I'm so thankful. Thank you for this. This is for you."

Germany finished bottom with 18 points, and the United Kingdom was second-last with 24 points.

The 2023 final was short on standout songs, but the staging was spectacular, and Norton and co-hosts Alesha Dixon, Julia Sanina and Hannah Waddingham proved to be a winning team - big on charm, not on cheese.
