RTÉ Radio 1's Morning Ireland continues to be the most popular radio show in Ireland, according to the latest JNLR listenership figures.

RTÉ Radio 1 remains the only station with a weekly reach of over a million listeners. The figure stands at 1,347,000, and RTÉ Radio 1 holds 17 of the top 20 radio programmes broadcasting in Ireland.

RTÉ 2FM's Breakfast with Doireann, Donncha and Carl and Drive it with the 2 Johnnies have both seen listenership growth.

RTÉ Radio 1's weekday share stands at 19.8%; RTÉ 2FM's share is 5.8%; with RTÉ lyric fm's share at 2.4%.

On RTÉ Radio 1, Morning Ireland remains the country's most listened-to radio programme with 437,000 listeners on this JNLR survey (+4,000). 

The Brendan O'Connor Show on Saturday has 327,000 listeners and 319,000 listeners on Sunday, while The Ryan Tubridy Show broadcasts to 335,000 (+4,000) listeners each weekday. 

Today with Claire Byrne has 327,000 listeners (+6,000) from Monday to Friday, and Sunday with Miriam has 292,000 listeners on Sunday morning.

Drivetime with Sarah McInerney and Cormac Ó hEadhra has 214,000 listeners each weekday evening (+6,000).

Speaking about the latest figures, Peter Woods, Head of RTÉ Radio 1, said: "The increase in the listenership across the morning and late afternoon is very welcome. It's a tribute to the focus and commitment of our teams and we will continue to refine our output.

"Weekend programmes have always fluctuated - but the position of so many of those programmes in the top ten underlines our continuing pre-eminence and connection with the audience. This was a good book."

2FM Breakfast with Doireann, Donncha and Carl has 135,000 listeners tuning in on weekday mornings (+6,000), while Jennifer Zamparelli on 2FM has 133,000 listeners.

Drive it with the 2 Johnnies continues to draw listeners across the country in the afternoons with 130,000 listeners (+11,000).

Dan Healy, Head of RTÉ Radio Strategy and RTÉ 2FM, said: "Overall, 2FM has performed well. This is the first time that we have a full 12-month view of the 2 Johnnies since they joined the station in February last year. Their daily reach has grown by 11,000 adults since the last survey and with significant growth every quarter hour from 3pm.

"Doireann, Donncha and Carl also continue to grow from survey to survey. The new weekend schedule has bedded in quickly and we will have a clearer picture of how that is performing in the next survey."

Marty in the Morning has 57,000 listeners tuning in weekday mornings (+1,000)

Meanwhile, over on RTÉ lyric fm, Marty in the Morning has 57,000 listeners tuning in weekday mornings (+1,000) while Niall Carroll's Classical Daytime has 44,000 listeners mid-morning (+3,000).

Sinéad Wylde, Head of RTÉ lyric fm, said: "One interesting reveal in this book (survey) is the growth in the number of Adults 35 - 54 listeners who have come to us over the last year, increasing from 3% to 4%. This is an encouraging development that indicates changes made in RTÉ lyric fm programming are having a broader audience appeal."
