Limerick duo Japanese Jesus have released Depression Breakfast, the second single from their forthcoming EP this June on Blowtorch Records. We asked vocalist Bertie Kelly of the band answers the BIG questions . . .
Japanese Jesus is Bertie on vocals, guitars, and bass and drummer Denny Dunworth, who previously played under the guise of Supermodel Twins in the noughties, recording their debut album with Noel Hogan of The Cranberries on production duties.
Their sound now is much more alternative and punk. Debut single Facilities was recorded by Mike Gavin (Windings, The Cranberries), mastered by Richard Dowling (Foo Fighters, David Bowie).

They have released four singles to date, Progress, Liver, Bus Weirdo and Tension.
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I have been playing in bands with Denny since my early teens. I like big drums and dirty sounding bass. I love apple tart.
How would you describe your music?
Fast and hooky.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Nick Reinhart, USA Nails, Sleaford Mods. This varies from week to week.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Growing up in west Limerick was definitely a challenge when it came to seeing bands we really liked. I would say the first was a local gig in Limerick City, probably in Costellos or The High Stool. The first big band I remember was probably Weezer.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Dreams on cassette by The Cranberries. I remember the following week buying OK Computer on cassette.
What's your favourite song right now?
She Don't Want by Dishevelled Cuss.
Favourite lyric of all time?
"If I was a material I would be straw, but I would burn with ease and bring villages down to their knees." USA Nails - They'd Name An Age.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Hard one to pick but probably a Weezer track like Say It Ain't So or maybe Lithium by Nirvana.
Where can people find your music/more information?
