Pop superstar Ed Sheeran has been announced as among the line-up for Friday night's edition of The Late Show.

Friday also sees the release of Sheeran's sixth studio album, entitled and pronounced 'Subtract'.

The fifth and final in his series of albums with mathematical symbols as titles, Sheeran wrote and recorded its 14 songs with Aaron Dessner, a member of US alt-rock band the National who has also worked with Taylor Swift.

The interview with Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy was recorded during Ed Sheeran's last visit to Dublin, and will therefore predate his grandmother Anne Mary Sheeran's death, and his current New York copyright trial.

Sheeran's Wexford-born grandmother Anne Mary Sheeran was the inspiration for his song Nancy Mulligan, and she died at the age of 98, on April 25 at Castle Gardens Nursing Home in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.
