Designer Christine Baumgartner has filed for divorce from double Oscar winner Kevin Costner after almost 19 years of marriage.
In a statement to People magazine, a representative for Costner said: "It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action."
"We ask that his, Christine's, and their children's privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time," the statement added.
Baumgartner, 49, and Costner, 68, married in September 2004 at his ranch in Aspen, Colorado.
They have three children together, sons Cayden, aged 15, and Hayes, aged 14, and daughter Grace, aged 12.
Costner - best known for his roles in the films Dances with Wolves and The Untouchables and the hit series Yellowstone - also has four children from previous relationships.
