Ishana Shyamalan, the daughter of Sixth Sense director M. Night Shyamalan, is scouting locations in Ireland with her father for a new supernatural thriller based on an Irish novel The Watchers.

The movie will be 22-year-old Ishana's directorial debut and will star Dakota Fanning as Mina, an artist who becomes stranded in a remote forest in the west of Ireland.

According to a synopsis for The Watchers: "When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers that are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night."

Ishana also wrote the script for the film, which is adapted from the 2021 novel by Irish author A.M. Shine and described as "A spine-chilling Irish horror adventure set in the remote unknown forests of Galway."

Posting on Twitter recently, M. Night Shyamalan said, "This is me and my daughter Ishana in Ireland. We are location scouting her first writer/director feature there. I'm so moved and inspired by her. She leads everyone with grace and creative fire."

Ishana has previously directed episodes of her father's series Servant.

The Watchers is set for release in June 2024.
