Gary Graham
Gary Graham

Super Garden is back and Gary Graham is representing Bord Bia Bloom on the panel of judges. A former manager of the event Gary has spent his professional life championing Irish Horticulture.

He has been on the Super Garden panel now for 14 years and sets a high bar for the designers.

What shows did you watch when you were young?

Grange Hill, Hill Street Blues, Starsky and Hutch, Top of the Pops, The Old Grey Whistle Test.

What are your favourite current TV shows?

I watch any gardening show on any channel (if I'm not in my own garden).

After dark I watch Graham Norton, Kin, Great Expectations, The Diplomat. The new Food Matters series with Mick Kelly is excellent and looking forward to watching the new wildlife series on RTE with Eoin Warner, probably on the Player.

Have you a favourite TV theme tune?

Classics like M*A*S*H and Glenroe are still worming away in my head.

Super Garden judges Brian Burke, Gary Graham and Monica Alvarez

Do you prefer drama, documentary, comedy or reality shows?

As a wannabe dancer, I love Strictly and Dancing with the Stars. Mostly, I watch dramas and I avoid reality TV. Although I watch Operation Transformation as the same production team make Super Garden.

If there was one TV show you could appear in, or one character you could play, what or who would that be?

As a fan of Wuthering Heights and Kate Bush it would have to be Heathcliff, preferably like Laurence Olivier role in the 1939 black and white production - very dark and moody.

Do you watch any of the streaming services?

Yes we watch RTE Player, Netflix, Amazon and Disney (shared with family members across the country).

Aidan Turner in Poldark

Would you be a binge-viewer or do you prefer not to submerge yourself in a show?

Happy to binge watch if I can stay awake.

Have you a guilty pleasure?

None that I can share publicly.

The Simpsons or Scooby-Do?

Not a fan of animation but deffo The Simpsons; it has something for all ages.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what box set would you like for company?

Poldark please, it might help with survival.

Super Garden, 7pm, Thursdays on RTÉ One
