Ballina duo YOP have released their debut EP, The World Is A Hell. We asked them the BIG questions . . .

YOP are a Krauty-psychy-noisy-punky-dancey with a drum machine and their new EP is available on CD, and cassette through Wahshtuff Records and Bandcamp.

The band was formed Conor (guitar, synth, vox) and Sid (bass, vox), two ageing Ballina punks in 2016.

"We're trying to explore different avenues, keep it interesting, For me it gets boring if I'm playing the same music year after year after year after year." Conor says.

YOP have played Spilt Milk in Sligo, Ar Imeall in Galway, Ballina Fringe Fest and the 2022 edition of the GGI fest.

The World Is A Hell is a self-recorded and produced five-track EP. The songs range from psychedelic noise rock (Lightlessness and YOP II) to synthy 80s dance (Dance On My Grave).

"We were using a drum program via a laptop at the time. We'd find a tempo that suited and try to come up with an interesting rhythm," says Sid. "We'd jam along until we found something that works and then add a bit of flair"
