Irish alt-country sweetheart and Choice Music Prize winner CMAT has fired the starter pistol on her second album with new single, Whatever's Inconvenient.
The first single to be taken from her soon-to-be announced second album, it comes with a "Shirley Valentine meets Samuel Beckett" video, shot in Kos, Greece.
Speaking about the song, CMAT says, "Whatever’s Inconvenient is a bit of a mission statement for me (and for my second album).
"It’s a big question mark over why I am so unendingly bad at entering and maintaining romantic relationships. I don’t really answer the question here, because I can’t and probably never will, but it’s always helpful to acknowledge your own uselessness (I find)."
The new track follows January’s one-off single Mayday and last year’s debut LP, If My Wife New I’d Be Dead, which won the prestigious Choice Music Prize for album of the year in March.

CMAT recently supported Wet Leg in the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Teskey Brothers across Europe, and she has announced an initial run of festival shows for the summer, including Otherside in Slane, support slots for Florence + The Machine at her outdoor shows in Dublin and Belfast, and First Aid Kid at their London outdoor date.
CMAT plays 12 and 13 May - Cyprus Avenue, Cork. 27 June - Malahide Castle, Dublin. 28 June - Belsonic, Belfast. 8 July - Otherside, Slane.
