Scottish singer and songwriter Blair Davie has released his new single, To Miss You. We asked him the BIG questions . . .

Speaking about his new song, the 22-year-old newcomer said, "I wrote To Miss You when I was miles away from home. It was the first time I'd been apart from my family for longer than a month and I felt this heavy weight of loneliness, in a new city where I barely knew anyone.

"Then a couple of weeks before heading home I met someone who showed me that it’s better to love and feel all the emotions that come with that, than to never feel at all.

"To Miss You is a reminder to myself that missing people and going through heartbreak, loss and finding love that makes it hurt when you’re apart can be beautiful things because they show how much we care for other humans."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I obsessively tried to learn to skateboard in lockdown after watching and falling in love with mid-nineties, but I fell off once and that was it. I love ice hockey - going to Dundee Stars games with my family is one of the joys of my life. Coming home and cooking dinner at night is my favourite thing to do outside of music and I dream of going to a chef school at some point.

How would you describe your music?

Emotional, vulnerable, and honest. Sometimes that might take the form of a ballad that feels super intimate and makes you feel held and sometimes it might make you feel uplifted and joyous. Sometimes (and this is the sweet spot) it might make you feel both simultaneously!

Who are your musical inspirations?

Orla Gartland, Dodie, and Lizzie McAlpine - all have this beautiful way of song writing that is so honest and relatable.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

McBusted. Am I embarrassed to say that? Absolutely not. It was an unbelievable gig!

What was the first record you ever bought?

Motion In The Ocean by McFly when I got my first iPod. Incredible album and really affirmed my love of music at a young age!

What’s your favourite song right now?

Never Learned To Dance by Medium Build. I discovered it on TikTok from clips of him singing the chorus which blew me away but honestly the verses hit me so hard too which was such a lovely surprise when I went to listen to the full song. Stunning song, so heart breaking.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"While I'm alive, I'll make tiny changes to earth" by Frightened Rabbit.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Mid Air by Paul Buchanan. I only found it last year when someone (very kindly) compared my song writing style to Paul’s. The moment I heard it I just felt like my life had changed a little bit for the better. It’s such a special and beautiful song.
