Colin Farrell brings the chills in The Penguin teaser

The first footage of Colin Farrell reprising his role as The Penguin for the Batman spin-off series of the same name has been released.

The HBO Max limited series will pick up the story where last year's box office hit The Batman left off and is due to premiere in 2024.

When the eight-part series received the green light from the streaming service in March 2022, Farrell said he "couldn't be more excited" to dramatically transform once again and reprise his acclaimed role as Oswald 'Oz' Cobblepot aka The Penguin.

Farrell also serves as one of the executive producers on the new series alongside The Batman director Matt Reeves.

"The world that Matt Reeves created for The Batman is one that warrants a deeper gaze through the eyes of Oswald Cobblepot," Farrell said in a statement in March 2022.

"I couldn't be more excited about continuing this exploration of Oz as he rises through the darkened ranks to become The Penguin.

"[It] Will be good to get him back on the streets of Gotham for a little madness and a little mayhem."

The Batman writer-director Reeves said: "Colin exploded off the screen as The Penguin in The Batman, and having the chance to thoroughly explore the inner life of that character on HBO Max is an absolute thrill."
