Michael Kelly (below) heads to Co Kildare to visit Paul Fogarty of the Irish Wildlife Trust to discover some of the effects of food pollution getting into waterways and farmlands.

He also meets lecturer in regenerative farming Mike Walsh, who has completely removed pollutants from a farm, and hears from young dairy farmer James Foley about how he has converted to fully organic farming.

Stephen Byrne (below) and Gemma Bradley host the 27th annual ceremony for young budding filmmakers between the ages of 7 and 18.

Highlights from the shortlist include Me and My Eleven Years by 11-year-old Ukrainian Marusya Shuvalova, which follows a day in the life of a young Ukrainian girl filmed during bombing raids.

Then there’s Shell, a sensitive portrayal of cross-generational friendship by 17-year-old Dubliner Eve Duffy.

And there’s Nellie from 18-year-old Malachaí Ó Ciardhubháin, which tells the story of a dispute over a family farm.

Gossip Girl, 11.20pm, BBC Two

The reboot of the posh Manhattanite teen drama returns for a second season.

The crew look forward to a fresh start in the new year, but the upcoming debutante ball threatens some already fragile bonds.

Meanwhile, Julien settles into life at Nick and Zoya's and Monet comes up with a plan to ruin things.

Designing the Hebrides, 8.00pm, BBC Two

Interior designer Banjo Beale and a team of tradespeople travel across the Scottish islands, using their craft skills, energy and creativity for a series of makeovers.

In the first edition, the team transforms a family-run fish shop in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull in a commission from Banjo's friend Sally, who is the manager and wants to modernise the traditional business.

Followed at 8.30pm by Wales' Home of the Year, where Owain Wyn Evans, Mandy Watkins and Glen Thomas begin the search for the most impressive property in Wales.

Own the Sky: Jet Pack Dreamers, 9.00pm, BBC Four

The story of Australian David Mayman, whose passion for the tantalising possibilities of jetpacks became an obsession.

Filmed over 10 years, the documentary follows his seemingly impossible quest to realise his childhood dream to build and fly the world's first jetpack - an ambition that almost cost him his life.
