Kim Kardashian is joining the cast of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story for its 12th season "in a role specifically written with her in mind".
Entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news, says the reality TV star and entrepreneur will join series mainstay Emma Roberts for the new season, American Horror Story: Delicate.
The Hollywood Reporter says the new season "is based, at least in part, on Danielle Valentine's upcoming novel Delicate Condition".
The thriller, which is due to be published in August, tells the story of a woman "who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens".
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, American Horror Story co-creator and executive producer Murphy said: "Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family.

"Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done."
Filming is due to begin in New York later this month.
Kardashian's other acting credits include the series CSI: NY and Beyond the Break.
