Magpie Murders, 9.15pm, BBC One

Anthony Horowitz's adaptation of his novel of the same name, starring Lesley Manville, Conleth Hill and Tim McMullan. It looks like fun.

Editor Susan Ryeland is eagerly awaiting the manuscript from Clover Books' number one best-selling author Alan Conway.

His fictitious hero Atticus Pünd regularly solves murder mysteries in the fictional village of Saxby on Avon.

But then Susan gets drawn into her own mystery when she and her boss realise that the final chapter is missing and Conway is found dead in his shrubbery.

Heineken Champions Cup, 4.30pm, RTÉ2

Streaming on RTÉ Player

All the action from the last-16 clash between Leinster and Ulster (KO 5.30pm). held at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

Leinster enjoyed the stronger form in the pool stage, winning all four of their matches, while Ulster sneaked through with just one victory.

Leo Cullen's side has also been in formidable form in the United Rugby Championship, boasting a 100% record after 15 matches, with two of those victories coming at Ulster's expense.

Jacqui Hurley (above) presents, with analysis by Fiona Coghlan, Jamie Heaslip and Stephen Ferris, and commentary from Hugh Cahill and Donal Lenihan.

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, 7.00pm, Virgin Media One

Comedian Rob Beckett is the Star Guest Announcer, while the hosts give away the very last Places on the Plane and Busted bring chaos to the End of the Show Show.

Plus, Undercover features Rylan and a member of the audience gets the chance to win items advertised in the commercial breaks.

Frank Sinatra: A Man and His Music, 7.35pm, BBC Two

This TV special from 1967 opens a superb night’s entertainment dedicated to the legendary singer Frank Sinatra.

Here, Ol’ Blue Eyes is joined by jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald and bossa nova guitarist Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Songs performed include Ole Man River, Body and Soul, The Lady Is a Tramp, The Girl from Ipanema and What Now My Love.

It’s followed at 8.25pm by Frank Sinatra: At the Royal Festival Hall, a 1970 concert at the London venue, with Princess Grace of Monaco introducing him on stage.

Featuring performances of I've Got You Under My Skin, The Lady Is a Tramp, My Kind of Town and My Way.

Then at 9.20pm there’s Frank Sinatra: The Voice of the Century Arena Special, a profile of Sinatra, featuring interviews with his friends and family that uncover aspects of his rich personal life, which included four marriages, Las Vegas business interests and alleged association with the Mafia.

Finally there’s High Society at 10.55pm, the musical comedy based on The Philadelphia Story with a score by Cole Porter, starring Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Grace Kelly, with Louis Armstrong appearing as himself.

Romantic complications arise when a playboy composer sets out to win back his ex-wife. Unfortunately, she is about to marry another man - and the situation becomes even more difficult when a cynical reporter enters the fray.

Shaq, Sky Documentaries & NOW

Featuring a series of revealing interviews with O’Neal, this four-part HBO documentary tells the story of a basketball legend unlike any other.

Shaquille O’Neal’s larger-than-life personality transcended the sport and transformed him into a cultural icon.

The documentary chronicles Shaq’s ascent to superstardom, as a dominant force who won four NBA championships, league MVP honours, and changed the game.

It also encompasses his life off the court, from his upbringing in a military family to his deepest personal relationships and prosperous broadcasting and business careers.

Emily the Criminal, Sky Cinema & NOW

Aubrey Plaza leads the cast as the eponymous Emily in this crime thriller.

Ford Emily (Plaza) is saddled with student debt and locked out of the job market due to a minor criminal record.

Desperate for income, she takes a shady gig as a dummy shopper, buying goods with stolen credit cards supplied by a handsome and charismatic middleman named Youcef (Theo Rossi).

Faced with a series of dead-end job interviews, Emily soon finds herself seduced by the quick cash and illicit thrills of black-market capitalism, and increasingly interested in her mentor Youcef.

Together, they hatch a plan to bring their business to the next level in Los Angeles

Mission: Impossible - Fallout, 9.20pm, RTÉ One

This is writer/director Christopher McQuarrie's sixth film in the hugely enjoyable action thriller saga, starring Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill.

Ethan Hunt and the IMF team join forces with CIA assassin August Walker to prevent a disaster caused by mysterious arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles.

But Hunt and his colleagues are soon pushed to their limits thanks to a face from their past.

So Long, My Son, 9.00pm, BBC Four

The long-running subtitled slot on BBC Four is taken up by this impressive Chinese drama.

It's about two married couples adjusting to the vast social and economic changes in China from the 1980s to the present. Starring Jingchun Wang and Mei Wong.

World War Z, 11.15pm, Channel 4

Thriller based on the novel by Max Brooks, starring Brad Pitt and Mireille Enos.

A virus sweeps across the globe, turning everyone infected into mindless, ravenous zombies.

As entire countries fall into chaos, a United Nations investigator sets off on a journey around the world to discover the cause of the pandemic and hopefully find a cure before human civilisation is brought to an end.

Family Flick

The Kid Who Would Be King, 6.35pm, RTÉ One

Joe Cornish's fantasy action adventure, starring Louis Ashbourne Serkis, Rebecca Ferguson and Tom Taylor.

Alex is a 12-year-old lad who is starting a new term at school and trying to adapt to his new surroundings.

While hiding from bullies in a construction site, he finds a mysterious sword and discovers it's King Arthur's Excalibur.

Eventually Alex meets legendary wizard Merlin and faces up to a tense battle with the evil Morgana.
