Herer’s a pulpy little late-night gem from Samuel Fuller, who both wrote and directed.
Constance Towers plays Kelly, a prostitute who arrives by bus in the small town of Grantville, on the run after being chased out of the big city by her former pimp.
She engages in a quick tryst with local police captain Griff, who then tells her to stay out of his town and refers her to a cat-house just across the state line.
Instead, she decides to give up her illicit lifestyle, becoming a nurse at a hospital for disabled children. But Griff doesn't trust reformed prostitutes and continues trying to run her out of town.
Florence Foster Jenkins, 10.45pm, BBC Four
This fact-based comedy stars Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant – with the latter putting in a masterful performance that even eclipsed the venerated Streep.
She plays the eponymous, tone deaf socialite who imagines she is a great singer, and her conniving yet devoted husband allows her to remain in her fantasy by holding concerts with small, invited audiences.
So far, so harmless – then reality threatens to intrude when she announces her intention of realising a lifelong dream of performing in New York's Carnegie Hall.
She recruits a struggling young pianist (guess Hugh?) to aid her, and the real fun begins
