Ryan Tubridy has ruled himself out of taking part as a contestant in Dancing with the Stars after he signs off as Late Late Show host on RTÉ One in May.

On his RTÉ Radio 1 show on Monday morning, the presenter was joined by Dancing with the Stars champions Carl Mullan and Emily Barker and finalists Damian McGinty and Kylee Vincent and Brooke Scullion and Robert Rowiński.

During the interview, he received a text from a listener that read: "Ryan, you now have time since you're leaving the Late Late Show to practise for Dancing with the Stars."

"Eh, hard no," the host replied. "Never going to happen."

"Why?" asked Dancing with the Stars finalist Brooke Scullion.

"Hang on, who's asking the questions here?!" joked Tubridy.

"I have tried to dance at the Toy Show every year, year in, year out - and I hate it!" he explained.

"I really... I dislike it intensely because I'm not coordinated."

"Who teaches you, then?" asked Dancing with the Stars finalist Damian McGinty.

Ryan Tubridy said he had enough of dancing on the Late Late Toy Show

"A very patient man who's probably in a dark room now - or maybe light room now that I'm going! The sun has come out!" answered Tubridy.

"But that's why I'm always so impressed by, obviously, the guests (contestants) in the sense that it is such discipline, requires so much of your heart and, as you've been describing, your head. It's remarkable. Having tried it... I'm very impressed by what you guys have done."
