Folk singer-songwriter Reylta has released her new single, Lucifer's Love, or Leannán an Diabhail, in both English and Gaeilge. We asked her the BIG questions . . .
Reylta says of the song: "Lucifer’s Love tells the unusual story of the intimate relationship between good and evil. When there is love and light in us, life becomes brighter. Be merciful, forgive your past, and work with it to attract a better future."
Originally from Galway, Reylta is currently based in Dublin, having recently graduated from BIMM.
Pre-pandemic, she sold-out two shows in Whelan’s, Dublin, and has played to audiences across Ireland, the UK, and the Netherlands.

She won the Eimear Noonan Bursary prize in 2021 In 2022, the emerging folk artist produced three highly successful shows and featured at Bloom Festival, the historic Ballyglunin Train Station, and The Irish Museum of Modern Art.
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I started singing scales with my mam at 10 months old. I was 11 when I wrote my first song. I grew up on a farm and my favourite drink is milk.
How would you describe your music?
Witchy choral folk music. I’m inspired by everyday observations, storytelling, and hiding behind metaphors. I always wanted to be a poet, but I seemed to just have a knack for song writing. I love a big band sound and try to showcase as many instruments and harmonies as I can, transporting you to this ethereal, surreal place that feels familiar and comforting.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Florence and the Machine, Hozier, Damien Rice, and Angel Olsen.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Westlife in The Marquee, Cork.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Diana Vickers - Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree. I discovered Diana on X Factor and followed her journey the whole way through. She introduced cursive singing back to the mainstream and this album is full of bangers including Once, The Boy Who Murdered Love and My Hip. It’s pure pop with great lyric.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Talisk - Echo. An incredible trad song from a Scottish folk band. I was introduced to this song by the drummer in my band and have been obsessed with it since August!
Favourite lyric of all time?
"The windows open now and the winter settles in/We’ll call it Christmas when the adverts begin/I love your depression and I love your double chin". Damien Rice - The Animals Were Gone.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
All the Boys on the Dole by T.P.M.
