New or Returning Shows

Kathy Burke: Growing Up, 10.00pm, Channel 4

Veteran British actress Kathy Burke contemplates if she should fight or accept old age and asks if it's easier or harder to be young in today's world.

It’s not just about Kathy though, as she speaks to some ordinary people with extraordinary lives.

In the first of this two-part special, Kathy explores how she feels about what is to come in later life. Well, other than the inevitable end.

She learns from 85-year-old model Bridget and a 70-year-old dominatrix that raging against the realities that come with old age might be the secret to aging disgracefully and with dignity.

The series also features contributions from Bill Bailey and Jennifer Saunders.

Chris Packham's Animal Einsteins, 8.00pm, BBC Four

The presenter introduces the unique talents of the world's most intelligent animals, investigating how nature's masterminds measure up against human brain power.

Looking at a variety of animals, such as ravens, crows, bees and starlings, Chris explores how different animals can use tools, solve complex puzzles, recognise themselves in mirrors and even reason like humans.

Six Wives with Lucy Worsley, 9.00pm, BBC Four

Well worth a look if you missed it before. Lucy is hugely informative and entertaining.

This documentary charts key moments in the lives of legendary British King Henry VIII's wives, combining dramatised scenes with the presenter's own contemporary historical comment.

In this episode, Lucy follows Catherine of Aragon through her emotional and physical struggles to give Henry the heir he so desperately needs to continue his dynasty.

When Catherine finally gives birth to a baby girl, Henry's eye wanders to the ladies at court - first Mary Boleyn, and then to her sister, Anne.

The Control Room, 9.00pm, Virgin Media More

Flwaed but very entertaining three-part drama from the BBC, with a great central performance from Iain De Caestecker.

He plays Gabe, a young emergency services call handler, who takes a call from a panicked woman confessing to killing her boyfriend.

And while she refuses to say who she is, the woman realises that she and Gabe know each other. Suddenly Gabe is no longer just a call handler.
