Johnny Logan's 1980 Eurovision winner What’s Another Year has been given a synth pop makeover by Irish electro act Keelan X and it comes with an animated video charting the journey of a young lad travelling back in time to The Hague to meet Johnny at his Eurovision performance.

Working with London-based pop producer Imad Salhi, Keelan X, aka Keelan Cunningham, has given the Eurovision favourite a hazy, shimmering electro feel.

Speaking about the new track, which is out this Friday, he says, "This is a bit of a departure for me - adapting a Eurovision winning ballad into a slightly more up-tempo, modern pop track.

"I always loved the song by Shay Healy and thought it would be interesting to give it a synth-pop makeover. It’s my favourite song ever put forward by Ireland to the Eurovision.

"It’s very musical and I just love the wistful melody line and vocal delivery by Johnny as well as the instrumental sections, beautifully crafted by Bill Whelan of Riverdance fame."

Keelan X cut his teeth as a musician in bands during the indie music boom of the 90s and has since began exploring electro and pop music.
