This is the Nashville-based duo of Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson's 15th album and features guest musicians such as Matt Kidd of fellow instrumental Nashville band Slow Meadow, and co-production from Grammy-nominated engineer Chad Howat (Paramore, Underoath).

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I’m married to Christine Byrd from the band Lumenette. At one point in my life, some friends nicknamed me Dark Marc. Andrew and I had our first gig as Hammock performing for Jonsi’s and Alex Somers’ Riceboy Sleeps art exhibit after-party. Being that it was for Jonsi from Sigur Rós, there was a lot of pressure, but they were so sweet . . . They even ended up designing our next album cover.

How would you describe your music?

Southern ambient stargazing post rock with the occasional neoclassical string section and/or cosmic choir.

Who are your musical inspirations?

We had a list of clever names to share as proof of how much music we’ve listened to through the years, but really one name kinda sums it up for us . . . Robert Smith of The Cure.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Pop Poppins, a band from Dallas, Texas. They played an all-ages show at a place called Vino’s in Little Rock, Arkansas. They wanted to be The Smiths.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Piece of Mind by Iron Maiden (I was 12 years old).

What’s your favourite song right now?

Can’t pick just one . . . Open the Floodgates by The Smile, Emily, I’m Sorry by Boygenius, Day of Snow by Skullcrusher, Be On your Way by Daughter.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Everything Is Beautiful by Mark Eitzel, it’s so tragic and elegant. Also, What Sarah Said by Death Cab for Cutie. I can’t help it but when Ben sings, "Love is watching someone die" and then he asks the question, "So, who’s gonna watch you die?" It still floors me every time.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I’ll need two: For the uplift, Morten Lauridsen: Lux Aeterna. O Nata Lux - Los Angeles Master Chorale. For the down time, Snow by the Innocence Mission, which makes me think of my nephew Clark who passed away . . . "To see him, to see him happy."

Where can people find your music/more information?

All of the usual streaming services/social channels and here.
