It's Valentine's Day so here is a round up of some of the most romantic movies in history - from Casablanca to Love Simon, there's something for everybody.
Love Simon 2018
17-year-old Simon (Nick Robinson) is looking for love, it's complicated by the fact that he has not come out yet. On top of that, he does not know who he has fallen in love with online. This story is heartwarming to say the least.
Titanic 1997
So good, they have released it twice. The ill-fated maiden voyage of the R.M.S. Titanic was not just about how a ship hit an iceberg but all the characters onboard and the love story between two people Rose (Kate Winslet) and Jack (Leonardo Di Caprio) on different decks of the boat.
Princess Bride 1987
A farm boy Wesley (Cary Elwes) falls madly in love with his employer's daughter Buttercup (Robin Wright). He rarely says anything to her beyond 'as you wish'. To better himself, he goes off in search of riches. The young maiden catches the eye of the evil prince of Florin. There is fencing, pirates, quicksand and even an appearance of the Cliffs of Moher all played to a wonderful soundtrack.
Casablanca 1942
Filmed and set during World War II, an American ex-pat who owns a bar in Casablanca, Morocco (Humphrey Bogart) must choose between the woman he loves (Ingrid Bergman) and her Czech resistance husband to help them escape from the Germans.
Loving 2016
Interracial couple Richard (Joel Edgerton) and Mildred Loving (Ruth Negga) fell in love and were married in 1958. They grew up in Central Point, a small town in Virginia that was more integrated than surrounding areas in the American South. Jailed and then banished they relocate but then try to get home.
Roman Holiday 1953
European Princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn) takes off for a night while in Rome. American reporter, Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck), takes her back to his apartment for safety. At work the next morning, Joe finds out about Ann's regal identity and bets his editor he can get an exclusive interview with her, but romance soon gets in the way.
Wuthering Heights 1939
Based on Emily Bronte's novel set in 19th-century England, wealthy young Cathy Earnshaw (Merle Oberon) shares a loving bond with Heathcliff (Laurence Olivier), a poor childhood friend who works in her stables. Heathcliff leaves as he is jealous of a suitor and returns with a self-made fortune, he realizes he may have lost Cathy in his absence.
Ammonite 2020
Mary Anning (Kate Winslet) searches for fossils on the English seashore to sell to tourists to support herself and her mother. A visitor asks her to mind his wife Charlotte Murchison (Saoirse Ronan), Mary initially clashes with her unwelcome guest, and then an intense bond begins to develop, compelling the two women to determine the true nature of their relationship.
Slumdog Millionaire 2008
18-year-old Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) is on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, flashbacks show how he got there from life as a street child in Mumbai.
Sleepless in Seattle 1997
After the death of his wife, Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) moves to Seattle with his son, Jonah (Ross Mallinger). When Jonah calls in to a talk-radio program to find a new wife for his father, Sam grudgingly gets on the line to discuss his feelings. Annie Reed (Meg Ryan), a reporter in Baltimore, hears Sam speak and falls for him, even though she is engaged. Unsure where it will lead, she writes Sam a letter asking him to meet her at the Empire State Building on Valentine's Day.
