Irish filmmakers and actors have received multiple nominations for the British Academy Film Awards - the BAFTAs - with The Banshees of Inisherin and An Cailín Ciúin among those on the shortlist.

The Banshees of Inisherin writer-director Martin McDonagh and stars Kerry Condon (Best Supporting Actress), Colin Farrell (Best Actor), Brendan Gleeson, and Barry Keoghan (both Best Supporting Actor) are among the film's 10 nominations.

There is further Irish interest in the Best Actor category with nominations for Daryl McCormack (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) and Paul Mescal (Aftersun).

The hit Irish-language film An Cailín Ciúin has received nominations for Best Film Not in the English Language and Best Adapted Screenplay for its writer-director, Colm Bairéad, whose heart-rending drama is based on the Claire Keegan book Foster.

The awards will take place in London on Sunday 19 February.
