David Letterman joins Bono & The Edge in Dublin for new documentary

The first trailer for Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming with Dave Letterman has been released ahead of the documentary special's premiere on Disney+ on St Patrick's Day.

The documentary sees US chat show legend Letterman receiving a guided tour from the U2 pair on his first trip to Ireland, with music and memories along the way.

"Many nice things have happened for me in my life," Letterman says in the trailer, "this is right at the top of that list."

"It's a great tour. Get in touch with them"

In a statement, Letterman joked: "Recently, I won a radio contest. Winner gets to visit Dublin with Bono and The Edge (radio contest part not true, but I feel like a winner).

"They showed me around, introduced me to their musician friends, and performed some of their greatest songs in a small theatre.

"It's a great tour. Get in touch with them - I'm told there are still availabilities. I'm the luckiest man on the planet. (There are no availabilities)."

Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming with Dave Letterman has been directed by the Oscar-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville, the director of 20 Feet from Stardom, Won't You Be My Neighbor?, and Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain.

The documentary's St Patrick's Day premiere coincides with the release of Songs of Surrender, a new compilation album of "reimagined and re-recorded" U2 tracks featuring 40 songs from their back catalogue.
