Pick of the Day

Michael McIntyre's Big Show, 6.50pm, BBC One

Here’s some old school Saturday evening telly.

The lively comedian Michael McIntyre hosts the latest run of a show that offers an evening of entertainment, recorded in front of an audience at – where else? - the London Palladium.

Tonight’s show sees Rylan bravely hand over his phone in Send to All, while Joel Corry and Tom Grennan add a little music by performing their smash hit Lionheart (Fearless).

There’s also an unsuspecting Antiques Roadshow fanwho gets the biggest surprise of their life and a special performance from the Unexpected Star of the Show.

Don’t Miss

The Tommy Tiernan Show, 9.30pm, RTÉ One

Streaming on RTÉ Player

Last week’s season opener with Cork football legend Roy Keane set a bar in terms of profile – but Tommy’s well up for whoever comes his way.

We all know what to expect here, which is often the unexpected.

With Tommy in the dark about who he will be interviewing until they walk out to greet him, anything can happen - especially if Tommy doesn't have a clue who they are.

Early Doors, 10.50pm, BBC Four

This classic Mancunian comedy from the early Noughties is currently the funniest thing on TV.

Tonight’s double bill opens with Jean's hopes of a holiday in Crete dashed, police officers Phil and Nige have a brush with death, and Liam comes clean - with a little help from his friends.

Meanwhile, Tommy and Eddie get a big surprise and Janice lands a new job.

Then at 11.20pm, tension mounts in the Grapes as the football card winner is announced, while Duffy and Joe advise Liam on how to win back a lost love.

Policemen Phil and Nige recover from a dawn raid, while Jean hopes her prayers will be answered and she will finally get to Crete.

New or Returning Shows

NFL: Wildcard Weekend, 9.00pm, Sky Sports Main Event & Action

The road to the Super Bowl starts here as the NFL 2022/23 playoffs begin with the Wildcard Weekend.

For those not in the know, this is where the second, third and fourth seeded teams from each conference are paired off against the Wildcard teams - the three with the best overall record of all remaining teams in the conference.

The winners of this round will go on to the Divisional Playoffs where the first seeded teams from both divisions will have automatically advanced.

Last season, only the San Francisco 49ers turned their Wildcard entry into a place in the NFC Championship game, where they lost to eventual Super Bowl LVI champions, the LA Rams.

First up, from 9pm there’s coverage of the Seahawks against the 49ers, while overnight (from 1am) the Chargers face the Jaguars.
