Irish/Chilean duo Lemon Lake have released their new single, What's That Sound? We asked them the BIG questions . . .
Fernando Sanchez and Donal Pywell met on stage at a bluesy jam session in London and have played as session musicians for artists such as La Roux and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.
What's That Sound? Follows their first single You Need To Go Now and they describe the new track as a pedal-to-the-metal dancefloor anthem with funky basslines and disco vibes.
Tell us three things about yourself?
We both met at a blues jam session in Camden my first day living in London. We are proud of our respective cultures i.e, Irish and Chilean. We both love a good dance party :)
How would you describe your music?
Our music is pretty eclectic. But it always comes down to a good solid funk groove and we build upon that.
Who are your musical inspirations?
We love classic artists like Chic, Nile Rodgers, Stevie Wonder. As well as new artists like Tame Impala and Franc Moody.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Donal: My first ever gig was in The Point (3Arena) to see My Chemical Romance as a teenager.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Donal: My first record was Living by Paddy Casey. Fantastic album.
What's your favourite song right now?
Donal: My favourite song right now is probably Another Star by Stevie Wonder.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Vincent by Don McClean: 'Starry, starry night, Flaming flowers that brightly blaze, Swirling clouds in violet haze, Reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue."
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably Dance Dance Dance by Chic. It's long and mesmeric.
