Dublin animation studio Brown Bag Films has won a Children's & Family Emmy for their Netflix show Ada Twist, Scientist.

The animated children's show focuses on eight-year-old Ada Twist, a "young Black scientist who will explore helping people through scientific discovery, collaboration and friendship," and solves mysteries with the help of her two best friends, Rosie Revere and Iggy Peck.

It was awarded the Outstanding Preschool Animated Series Emmy over another one of Brown Bag's productions Octonauts: Above & Beyond as well as Molly of Denali, Santiago of the Seas and Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum.

This was the first annual Children's & Family Emmy Awards, a two day award ceremony honouring the best in children and teen entertainment on broadcast and streaming services.

The event was hosted by Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show's Jack McBrayer and held at Los Angeles' Wilshire Ebell Theater.

The 2022 ceremony was the most competitive NATAS-administered Emmys ever, with 3,000 submissions and 270 nominations and individual achievement honorees over an 18-month eligibility period.
