Dr Marie Cassidy has been revealed as the fifth contestant taking part in Dancing with the Stars on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player in January.
The former State Pathologist, who is Professor of Forensic Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and Trinity College Dublin, said she has not stopped smiling since being asked to join the show.
"Who would have thought?!" she continued.
"It's going to be a challenge, as I'm not used to just having fun.
"But bring it on, the more sequins, the better. Just got to learn to dance! Over to you, partner."
The Glasgow-born author and documentary-maker, whose parents hailed from Co Donegal, has returned to her childhood hobby of ballet in recent years.
Already confirmed for the show alongside Dr Cassidy are Panti (aka Rory O'Neill), Eurovision singer Brooke Scullion, Gaelic footballer Paul Brogan, and entrepreneur Suzanne Jackson.
