Circle of Friends star Minnie Driver paid a moving tribute to her late pen pal Maeve Binchy on Angela Scanlon's Ask Me Anything on RTÉ One on Saturday night.
The English actress received her big-screen break in the 1995 adaptation of Binchy's bestseller, and they remained in touch until the beloved Dublin author's death in 2012.
Host Scanlon said that Driver and Binchy being pen pals was "the most idyllic image".
"She was so incredible," Driver recounted.

"I mean, she would write letters. It was so sweet. She would be like, 'Dear Minnie, Are you eating enough? How is Hollywood? I don't imagine it's a very welcoming place!'
"I have some great letters from Maeve where she was always, even towards the end of her life... I never heard her complain about anything, ever - and she only ever asked about you. She never volunteered stuff about herself.
"It was incredible. Even in writing, in the letters that she wrote, they would always be about other people or things that she'd seen and asking questions that she would then answer in the letter. She was a magic, a magic, magic person."
