Migos rapper Takeoff shot dead in Texas

The American rapper Takeoff, a member of the best-selling hip-hop trio Migos, has been shot dead in Houston, Texas.

The 28-year-old, whose real name was Kirsnik Khari Ball, is reported to have been killed during an incident outside a bowling alley in the city in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

His death was confirmed to US entertainment trade publication Variety by a representative of Houston's police department.

It is reported that Takeoff and his uncle and Migos bandmate Quavo - real name Quavious Keyate Marshall - were playing dice when he was shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were injured in the incident.

Migos - completed by Takeoff's cousin Offset aka Kiari Kendrell Cephus - are best known for their US number-one hit Bad and Boujee.

Last month, Takeoff and Quavo had released a new album, Only Built for Infinity Links.
