Watch: Night of the Daniels starring Daniel O'Donnell

It's the Halloween movie you didn't know you needed - Daniel O'Donnell's Night of the Daniels. It's spookily superb...

In a career first, the Donegal singer stars in Night of the Daniels, a short movie that sees him save An Clochán Liath when it comes under attack.

Daniel has once again teamed up with the makers of his viral Down at the Lah De Dah video, Shaun Duggan and Ciaran McCann of Re-Act Productions, for this Halloween slasher.

Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment, O'Donnell said he hopes his fans won't be "too spooked" and will "get a smile out of it".

"They came to me before Covid and asked if I would do a video with them, as they had an idea," O'Donnell explained.

"The boys wanted to do something in the summer of 2021, but because the original video would have involved bringing a lot of people together, we all still didn't feel comfortable because of Covid.

"I then found the song Down at the Lah De Dah, and we decided to ask Ciaran and Sean to do that video instead, as it would involve only very few people.

"The video was a great success beyond anything we could have hoped for. So this new video, The Night of the Daniels, was their original idea, and I'm delighted we made it happen in the end!"

O'Donnell's wife Majella stars alongside the Cionn Caslach native, as well as "lots of people from the local area at home in Donegal".

The Night of the Daniels has reignited O'Donnell's love for Halloween. He said: "As a child, I was a huge fan of Halloween. I remember trying to eat the apple in the basin of water and, of course, the barmbrack to see who would find the ring.

"The Night of the Daniels has certainly brought back memories of Halloween for me. I might have to get the basin out!"
