Pick of the Day

Louis Theroux Interviews - Stormzy, 9.15pm, BBC Two

This latest series from Louis Theroux is like the next logical step after his excellent lockdown podcast conversations, as it sees him interview some of the biggest names in UK entertainment.

As well as the chat, he gets granted exclusive access into their lives at home and at work, beginning with platinum-selling rapper Stormzy.

After two years out of the spotlight, Stormzy welcomes Louis into his home in south-west London to sit down for a frank and revealing conversation that covers many aspects of his life.

Those topics range from his childhood to the breakdown of a high-profile relationship, and the pressures that come with being one of the UK's best-loved musicians and role models.

Don’t Miss

The Great British Bake Off, 8.00pm, Channel 4

My wife’s a recent convert to this show. It’s quickly become the highlight of her telly-watching week and always puts a big smile on her face. It's excellent feel-good TV.

Tonight, the bakers are back in the world of desserts for custard week, which sees them serving up floating islands, a summer staple in the technical and a showstopping set gateau that uses custard as the basis.

Will any of them prove good enough to win a Hollywood handshake? Hosted by Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas.

How Long Will You Live? 8.30pm, RTÉ One

THis week’s episode sees Dr Phil Kieran meeting 30-year-old sales rep Bryan Downey from West Cork.

Bryan needs to overhaul his lifestyle as his hectic work schedule is playing havoc with his health and weight. It’s a common problem these days, as so many employers have subtly pushed the boundaries.

Prime Time, 9.35pm, RTÉ One

In this Prime Time special, Louise Byrne explores if one of Ireland's largest wind farms at Derrybrien in Galway should be turned on again or dismantled, as demanded by the EU.

New or Returning Shows

Jimmy Carr Destroys Art, 9.15pm, Channel 4

The comedian Jimmy Carr hosts a unique television experiment in which an audience decides whether to cancel controversial artists and offensive artworks, with one key difference.

And it seems a pretty pointless one, as the works they vote to cancel will literally be destroyed.

Celebrating Channel 4's disruptive roots, this provocative television first asks where people draw the line today between artistic expression, controversy and harm.

Sounds to me more like the tiresome side of Channel 4’s 'edginess’.

Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, 10.00pm, BBC Two

The potty-mouthed Scottish comedian with a fondness for tasty tweed suits returns for another run of shows where he tries to make sense of the modern world. It can’t be easy.

As ever, he’ll be using a combination of stand-up, review, discussion and audience interaction to dissect the week's news - with a panel of guests on hand to take Frankie to task over his claims.

John Denver Country Roads, 9.30pm, TG4

The late John Denver is one of the most successful and best loved recording artists of the 20th century.

His easy-going manner, fine voice, superb songwriting and dedication to environmental issues all combined to build a huge global fanbase that has continued to grow since his untimely death in a plane crash in 1997.

This 1986 concert, from the NEC in Birmingham, is packed with classic John Denver songs all delivered with his characteristic charm and good humour.

Autumnwatch, 8.00pm, BBC Two

Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan are back again to report live on another spectacular autumn from Wild Ken Hill in Norfolk, where thermal cameras are poised to capture the natural events that happen after dark.

Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Gillian Burke

Elsewhere at Teifi Marshes in Wales, Iolo Williams is on the lookout for the locking antlers of the deer rut, and Gillian Burke explores the natural wonders of Cardigan Bay.

New to Stream

Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, Netflix

Bizarre nightmares unfold in eight tales of terror in this visually stunning, spine-tingling horror collection in eight parts, curated by Guillermo del Toro.

"Each of these episodes contains a whole world," says the multiple Oscar-winning director. "Some are savoury, some are sweet. You get a surprise from each of the bites . . ."

This looks like the ideal spooky viewing for Halloween.

Unsolved Mysteries: Volume 3, Netflix

The iconic and gripping series returns with a three-week event featuring more unexplained deaths, baffling disappearances, and bizarre paranormal activity.
