Matthew Perry has paid tribute to his Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston for her efforts to help him when he was destroying himself through addiction.
Perry makes his comments in the trailer for his interview with ABC News' Diane Sawyer, marking the publication of his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.

The interview airs in the US next Friday, 28 October. Perry's memoir is published on Tuesday 1 November.
During the interview, Perry recounts how Aniston confronted him about his drinking.

"Imagine how scary a moment that was," he says.
"She was the one that reached out the most," the 53-year-old continues. "I'm really grateful to her for that."
Billed as "emotional", "raw" and "brutally honest", the interview sees Perry tell Sawyer that when he should have been "the toast of the town", he was "in a dark room, meeting with nothing but drug dealers - and completely alone".
Sawyer hears that Perry was consuming methadone, the tranquilliser Xanax, a full quart of vodka a day and 55 Vicodin painkillers a day.

Of his decision to tell his story now, he says: "It was important to me to do something that would help people."
