The death has been announced of Austin Stoker, the actor best known for his lead role in the classic John Carpenter film Assault on Precinct 13. He was 92.
US entertainment trade publication Variety reports that Stoker passed away from renal failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles last Friday.
Writing on Facebook, Stoker's wife of 43 years, Robin Stoker, described him as "the love of my life".
Austin Stoker was born Alphonso Marshall in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and came to the US in his twenties, joining a dance troupe.

After military service, he pursued his acting career.
Among his many early credits were the series Kojak, McCloud and Return to the Planet of the Apes, and the films Battle for the Planet of the Apes, Airport 1975 and Sheba, Baby.
In 1976, he starred in his most famous role as Lieutenant Ethan Bishop in the iconic siege thriller Assault on Precinct 13.
Stoker's subsequent credits included the miniseries Roots and the series Cagney & Lacey and Falcon Crest.
His final film, the dark comedy Give Till It Hurts, was released in the US last month.
Variety reports that he is survived by his wife, Robin; children, Tiffany and Origen; and grandsons, Marcus and Austin.
