Lyra has said she wrote her new single 29 Box after feeling like she was getting "sucked into this social world of darkness" and wanted her fans to know she is "vulnerable just like them".

Speaking about her latest track on RTÉ 2FM Breakfast with Doireann, Donncha and Carl, the Cork native candidly revealed that she went through a period where she questioned whether she was good enough.

She said she got "really angry" that she allowed herself to get "sucked down into this social world of darkness" and had to tell herself to "wake up" and remember that everyone "puts their best foot forward online".

"You can get sucked down into this social world of darkness and start questioning yourself and your identity and whether you're good enough. I did, and I was really angry at myself that I let myself do that.

"I was forgetting that everyone puts their best foot forward online and I was thinking this was their reality and I was getting sucked into that. And I said 'Girl wake up'. So I sat down and really let myself be true to myself. I literally wrote it in two hours, four chords and this is it."

Lyra also said she is nervous for people to hear the track but thinks it is important that they know that "although I look like this confident being on Instagram, I'm still vulnerable just like them."

Lyra's latest single 29 Box is available on all streaming platforms now.
