Hollywood legend Jamie Lee Curtis had Friday night's Late Late Show audience in raptures after describing the Irish as "the nicest people on Earth".
Dressed in black and wearing knee-high boots, she came on stage to tremendous applause that got even louder as she smiled and gave the Emerald Isle a verbal thumbs-up.

"The Irish are the nicest people in the world," she told Ryan Tubridy on Friday's show. "From the moment I stepped off the plane, from the baggage handler to the driver, to your people. You are the nicest people on Earth."
To which Ryan replied: "That’s very nice of you to say." Smiling, Jamie Lee added, pointing to the audience, "I’m telling you the truth. Beautiful.
"It’s a palpable feeling and it’s really exquisite, and God bless you all. Thank you. Very much."
Looking at Ryan, she added: "And you’re not bad yourself, sir."
Noting that it’s four years since she last appeared on the show, Jamie Lee told Ryan about being in a happier space nowadays.
"I’m just so relaxed," she said. "I’m just so happy that since that movie, 2018 Halloween, three movies - Knives Out, and Everything Everywhere All at Once - all within four years and I’m 64 years old. How is this happening?

"It’s just extraordinary," she added. "And I realised I just had to stay out of the way. I can’t control anything. And let the grace of what’s happening, happen."
Jamie Lee also spoke about her new movie Halloween Ends, the latest in the slasher franchise, and how the endless murders have damaged the fabric of the fictitious town of Haddonfield, Illinois.
Describing the movie, she said: "This one is about the poisoning that, in a way, that level of damage and murder in a town, Haddonfield, a fake American town, what it really has done to the people.

"And it’s poisoned them. So we all think Michael Myers is the murderer, the killer - but the truth is we are all somewhat murderers. We are all capable of inflicting real harm on other people.
"And it’s a movie about victim-shaming, really . . . but it’s still a slasher movie . . . a thrilling horror film."
Jamie Lee also revealed her approach to social media and the internet, describing it as "a portal for hatred" and whispered to the audience: "I don’t read anything you write about me".
